Ok, another one. Driving into an 8' clearance parking ramp with a bike on the roof rack. Result: bent rack, dented car roof, but miraculously the bike was unscathed except for some paint damage where the rack was clamped onto the frame! I was moving slowly turning into the ramp, the bike's tire hit the concrete lintel over the entrance (apparently attenuating the impact), and as the rack bent the bike popped out of the clamp landing on its side, preventing further damage from the concrete lintel. Sheer dumb luck.
