Hi All,

To all those interested in Grandis bikes I have posted some photos of an early 70's Grandis Super Leggera I have just picked up. I suspect it was a custom frame because sizes are to the half centimeter. Decal on the top says "Super Leggera". The only parts I have replaced so far are the tires and saddle which was a more modern padded Japanese replacement. I am looking for a more appropriate Unicanitor as the one I have put on has alloy rails. I assume the original was a Unicanitor? The equipment is Nuovo Record except for the pedals which are Record with the strap loop - Binda straps.

Rear derailleur has "Patent 72" front crank unmarked but the crank ring has a diamond with a C. Seat post is milled and the 1A stem is nutted - handlebars are Mod.Giro D'Italia. Campagnolo Record high flange hubs are laced to Nisi Moncalieri. The REG bottle is branded "Grandis" as is the Silca pump. The bike has nice cutouts similar to the later bikes but does not have the "G" in the crown or headlugs, rather it has the same Mikey Mouse type cutouts. These cutouts are in the brake and chain stay reinforcements and the BB shell. The BB shell also has three cutout slots with a 2 stamped in it. Fork has reinforcement tangs with 3 holes. One nice touch is the pump peg brazed onto the underside of the top tube near the seat tube cluster.

I need to replace the gum hoods as they are in really bad shape as well as the handlebar tape - hope you enjoy.
