Subject: [CR]Slipping seatpost when on the road

Finally realized my mistake and got the proper size, then no problem.

At this last Cirque at least two riders had a problem with a badly slipping post when out on the road and one of them rode something like 18 miles back to the Battleground Inn riding out of the saddle in extreme heat because of this.

Larry Black has told me that one can get a C Clamp anywhere that will sell or loan you one and use that to hold the saddle in place in a pinch. This argues strongly for always keeping at least one $20 bill with you on a ride...it will stash almost anywhere. Larry also tells me that in a real bad situation you can pull the post up a bit, take your faithful Swiss Army Knife (or some other object you may be able to borrow) and make a hole in the post where it will normally be out of sight and put a nail or other such object in it to get you home. Man, Larry is such a fount of cycling wisdom!
