I should have noted, in my praise of Cinellis, what has been noted more than once here: Cinellis, in general, were brazed up with only routine attention to detail. Cut one apart, and the joints aren't all that impressive. Certainly nowhere near the quality of a modern KOF frame.. Mike Kone proved it by actually cutting one apart. And the inside of a bb shell on most Cinellis is not a pretty place..<g>
Still, I stand by my comments. I didn't mean to sound utterly superficial, in praising what are essentially cosmetics over substance. The Cinellis were built well enough to last indefinitely if cared for properly (and frame-savered or similar, inside the tubes--sometimes chromed ends in Cinellis resulted in bad corrosion from the inside out in the rear-triangle..I've seen it. Ugly).. most of them do not suffer from breakage or corrosion. And they all ride to die for.
Chacun a son gout, as they say. I still think a Cinelli is the epitome of the vintage lightweight, and I probably would be happy to have just that, if I could have nothing else.
Who among us does not admire them, every time they show up on a ride?
