Subject: [CR]Introduction - new to the list

Hello. I'm new to the list, as of yesterday, and after reading the welcome email thought that I should send an introduction.

My name is Scott Loveless and I live just across the river from Harrisburg, PA. A few months ago I bought a couple used bikes to replace a car destroyed by falling ice. My wife and I finally live within about 5 miles of everywhere we *need* to go on a regular basis and thought that cutting out a few expenses, and getting back into shape, was a good idea. What started as a purely practical solution has gone down hill fast.

Since building up the Schwinn (late '80s, and not on topic for this list) I've become interested in several rides with a "classic bike" theme, such as the 3 Speed Tour and L'eroica. Building a bike, or bikes, suitable for this type of gathering has become a bit of an obsession. I'd love to find an old Italian racing bike and restore it, but money and time dictate that something along those lines would be more of a KOF discussion around here. Building a new, classically inspired bike sounds like just as much fun, anyway, and I have a few crazy ideas for this one. The KOF concept is fairly clear, but I wouldn't mind if someone tossed around a few names of builders who meet the list's criteria for this sort of thing.

Other than that, I like to tinker. I regularly shoot with cameras older than I am, enjoy woodworking with hand tools, and like seeing old tractors in parades (my wife says I'm not allowed to have any tractors, so I have to be content with looking from a safe distance).

I've enjoyed the little bit of the archive that I've had time to read and look forward to lurking for a long time. Thanks for reading this. I hope I haven't overstepped.
