Bigger question with larger ramifications. Die-drawing a multi- strand wire cable improves the outside shape (smoother) without compromising the individual strands of wire. Sanding the cable cuts into the individual strands of wire just like wearing out a cable. Not a hard choice to make in my world!

Maybe Garth's subject line should read, "So what about using worn out brake cable?"
