Roman;

Short Campy dropouts apparently were available in '73. John Waner has a Masi GC (Italian) with a Jan or Feb '73 date stamp (the bike's date was also

confirmed in an email from Alberto) that has short dropouts. When the bike first surfaced, I was skeptical so I wrote eRichie to ask about this and he said that these dropouts were indeed available that early.

As for lugs with windows, similar side windows on the head lugs appeared on quite a few 69-70 Masi Specials.

But those points aside, I share the scepticism expressed in previous message s about the date and description of this frame. For example, I don't know the maker of the head lugs Cuevas used on this bike, but I seriously doubt t hey are hand-cut as the seller states since I've seen what I believe to be identical lugs on several mid-70's Pogs and a few other frames into the earl y 80's.

In addition, the binder bolt ears on that seat lug seem typical of the look of the investment cast era, I do not recall ever seeing anything like them o n an early 70's bike. Of course one of our resident framebuilders with a goo d memory or a nice selection of vintage lug catalogs would be more qualified t o comment on this.

I wonder if that is really a '73 with those short rear dropouts - didn't think those were generally available untill about '75?  Seems like the lug s with windows were also a mid-late 70's stylin'thing.
