I tried gatorskins on a tandem we have, and a single bike, and I didn't like them at all. Heavy and dead-feeling to me. Even at less than full pressure they felt very harsh, also. Dead in handling and harsh in ride...not much fun.

Plus, they really don't look right.

Paselas are not much better, I admit. I wish Panaracer would make these in a smooth tread and rounder section.

So far the only 27" tire that is easily available that I like much at all is the Continental Sport, but they are not very robust. And they feel clunky and slow to me. That may be my imagination, but that's been my experience.

I wish Grant would make a 27" Roly-Poly, but little chance of that, given the small market size.

The Avocet slicks were very promising, but I never tried a pair before they disappeared...the narrow ones have no appeal, a wider one might have been nice. I've heard good things about them. Too bad they're so hard to get in 700c. And too bad they don't make a 27" in a fatter tire anymore.

(Mark Petry, did you sell your Avocets? I didn't notice..)
