Who knows about Mercier making aluminum frames? I recall seeing a non-welded looking Mercier mixte in the 1970's--don't know how old it was then. This would have predated Alan and Vitus being sold in the US by at least two years in the case of Alan and ten for Vitus.

I realize that a "cruiser" style bike is probably very off topic, but let's not forget the Monark Silver Kings (yes I have one) for early aluminum bikes. This is not mine:

Unfortunately, mine is not nearly so nice and curently looks like a vintage plane crash w/ steel bolts and bottom bracket electrochemically fused to the frame. It may be a project I have to abandon, but not yet : )
