I have not been a collector and still am not compared to many on the list. For 25 years I was satisfied with one very special machine, however, after joining this list to make some changes to that bike I got hooked.

As I noted a few months ago, I have decided to collect one (at least) British bike from each of the decades covered by the CR list. I have the 1970s and 1980s mostly covered and now the 1940s - next step would be the 1950s and 1960s. The 1930s might be a bit of a stretch. I also would like to get a 1960 bicycle (my birth year).

Why British bikes? Perhaps a nostalgia for my expat working class roots - perhaps because I enjoy the tremendous variety and occasional quirkiness of the British bicycle industry ...
