>los angeles, california Hi Andrew: It depends on which time period, I guess, but Mavic GP4s are loved by many. Look for something close to 400 grams (actual weight). GP4s are about 400-ish, I think. Campagnolo Record Pavés are supposedly super-strong, but hard to find. Mavic SSCs are great, but pricey. These are all late-1970s to late-1980s rims, I think. For an earlier '70s rim, something like the blue-label AVA ones that were often on Raleigh Pros would probably be good - polished aluminum, heavy, relatively inexpensive. You may also want to go with quality straight-gauge 14-gauge spokes. Greg Parker Ann Arbor, Michigan http://www.bicycleclassics.com
