I think these were used from the mid 60's to about 1973 or so. I'm not at all sure AVA actually made these stems, as I've seen nearly identical stems marked as a number of different French brands. Never broken one either, or personally known anyone who did. But I do have a pair of the AVA bars they were used with that has a nasty hairline crack.
