Subject: [CR]Need help info about Suntour S-1 rear derailleur(like Nivex)

hello all, I recently sold a Suntour S-1 rear derailleur, the chainstay mounted rear derailleur. I know that it is past the cut off date, but the design is KOF borrowing heavily on the chainstay mounted rear derailleurs from the 1930-50s, like Nivex, Cyclo, and even Altenberger.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Suntour version, and how well they shifted. I know Frank Berto briefly touches upon them in the Dancing Chain book. If you have used, or are currently using, what shifting is it set up for?? Index or Friction?

I remember when i first learned about them years ago, I was on the search for the Schwinn that was spec'd with them to have a modern Nivex system. Wonder if Jan had a comparison between them? Wondering if someone will try to make them come back again in another form, or did the Suntour incarnation prove they were not for "modern" bikes?
