I've ridden the Grand Bois quite a bit and tire mortality has not been overly high. They have a wonderful ride.

If you have a problem with flats, assuming your tire mounting technique is perfect, you may want to consider a product called the Spin Skin.

This is NOT a Mr. Tuffy. It is a lightweight tape - they say it's Kevlar, who knows - but it works. Retail $30 / pair, I run them in the rears only, and have had very good luck with them.

The Vittoria Open Pave is a nice tire too, but it rides like a coal cart compared to the Grand Bois.
