I find myself in a situation I shall call "Dobbins-esque." I just purchased this Colnago via eBay:
Despite its probably already declining value as a pre-80's bike (wink, nudge), I am very concerned to get it here safely. Some of you may recall Ray Dobbins faced a similar issue not long ago when he purchased his lovely blue almost-Pantografata. The seller knows nothing about packing bikes. I am hoping some kind listmember will be able to help me out, either by packing the bike for shipment or recommending a LBS up to the task. The bike in question is located in Bakersfield, California. Charles Andrews already generously offered to help, but that was when he (and I) thought the bike was in Hollywood in reasonable proximity to Charles. I am willing to?compensate the helper as he/she deems appropriate. Thanks for considering my request.
