Jaz,

I'm with you on the British cars; as long as we're talking Bentley. Just picked up the lowest milage Bentley R Type known to exist (11,054 origi nal miles) last week.

But I consider this akin to passing on the Raleigh and getting a Ron Coo per or Bill Herlow or something of that ilk.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA So what if it's in a million pieces, I'll make sure it gets back togethe r correctly.

You guys make a good point. However, while I wouldn't consider myself an

anglomaniac, I also own a couple British cars and the appeal is similar.

While I agree, they may not be the most consistent in workmanship and th ere are plenty of choices for better rides, they do have a unexplainable qua lity that connects to some other, perhaps emotional, attribute; not unlike a Series I Jag XKE or Austin-Healey 3000. I've also had my '74 longer than all others so there's admittedly a nostalgic aspect there as well. Neverthel ess, I don't see paying $1,000 (or more) for one, no matter how "mint."
