Subject: [CR]Looking for a Chrome Fork/Fork Alignment

Hello,

After months of patient searching for a chrome threaded 1 inch fork with approx. 240mm of steer tube, I finally found a NOS one last week on ebay. However, it was poorly constructed and is out of alignment. Up to this point, I have avoided soliciting the CR list. At this point, I am pondering three options. The first would be to return the fork, and keep searching. The second would be to see if it can be aligned, and the third is to finally see if any fellow CR members have a fork kicking around the shop.

I have been reading the archives, and it looks like realigning this fork may be possible. From what I can tell, one of the dropouts (when looking over the top, down the steer tube towards the d.o.) is not perpendicular to the ground/axle. Instead, it comes out at an angle similar the the outward slope of the blade. I am going to check with my LBS tomorrow.

In the meantime, if anyone out there has a generic (yet, nice) chrome fork with a 1 inch steer tube, 700c, and around 240mm of steer tube length I would be more than happy to take it off your hands. I am more then anxious to get this old TREK resurrection complete.

PS: Rod, I am not sure if you got my thank you note about the Shimano 600 Brakes. I will try you again later. But if you view this message; again, thank you for helping me out, it was more then generous.
