Subject: [CR]Re Cobalto brake 'Jewels'

Hi Crew, Firstly, this is off topic!!! but maybe Dale will let this one slip through the cracks as this subject has been visited before with no real conclusion or solution. The Cobalto brake jewels are just plastic insets into a recess on the brake nuts of the last Campy brales before the C-record series. These little suckers would just pop out for no good reason and no replacements were ever made available by Campy. I have several sets of these brakes with no jewels and have sent friends who have visited Vicenza to see if there is a box or bucket of them lying around.....no success. Ray Dobbins has used faceted plastic inserts some some effect, but a rounded dome is what is really needed. I have come up with a 'nearly as good as original' solution which is better than the faceted method. I have to great success made small circular cobalt blue printed foil stickers which have been stuck to plastic'glass surface savers' which fit snugly in the small recess of the Cobalto nut. The only difference is that this plastic is not hard, but to some degree soft. Really difficult to tell the difference. Before everyone emails me about this, I will do some sets and gets some pictures going.
