Motobecane "Le Champion" frame/fork/HS/BB/SP

57 c-c 58.5-59 c-t top tube 57

I'm going to estimate that this is from very late 70's, very early 80's. It is one of the nicest Motos I've ever seen, perhaps second only to the very special "Champion Team" frames.

Square headbadge, not round. Block letters for the downtube "MOTOBECANE". The later 80's logos are not present. Long-point window lugs, quite clean. Long fluted stay caps. This is not a crude frame - it is nicely finished. I would guess that it was a specialist workshop frame, not a factory frame. Medium gray-silver. Some spots of touch-up, but presentable as a rider.

The rear end is roomy and relaxed -- 42 c-c. Fork crown is chrome. Reynolds 531 stickers are in place. All braze-ons. Drops are Campy. Brake holes are set up for recessed .... this frame mystifies me, as the geometry seems very relaxed for its estimated date. It's a sweet, sweet, velvety rider.

Campy NR headset and BB. Campy one-bolt SR seatpost. Original seat clamp bolt (frame is threaded to receive this bolt). Optional Simplex retrofriction levers are available if desired. I have a stem I'll include, which has been sanded to French, but it's not correct for the frame.

I'd like this frame to get ridden more than it does.

$275 + shipping or local
