Today on offer at Chez Charles 'n' Carmen, this beautiful Saronni-era Colnago tandem.

Early 1980s Colnago tandem.

Very few of these were made, and even fewer came into the US.

Many tandems need a lot of tweeking before you can really ride them. This one is an exception. It's ready to ride now, and has been optimised for fast road use.

Captain: 57cm c-t seat; 56cm c-c top

Stoker: 56cm c-t Seat; 62cm c-c top

Note well that the stoker section of any tandem need not fit the stoker precisely, a reasonable fit works just fine. Also note that this tandem has a longer stoker section than you usuallly see on italian tandems using Columbus tube-sets, which is a nice detail.

Full campagnolo group, including the late Nuovo Record cranks with the smooth face, and 50th anniversary-style calipers.

40-spoke wheels. These are really bullet-proof tandem sew-up wheels, with Vittoria corsa CX tires good for some miles yet. You haven't lived 'till you've ridden a tandem with sew-ups! Very sporty.

Regina oro chains; Super record headset and Superleggere pedals with binda laminated straps. Campagnolo clips. Cinelli bars and stems.

Caveats are minor: some very mild blistering paint and chipping in a couple of places. Not from rust, but just some adhesion problems. Nothing major. Stoker saddle has two small cuts in it near the nose. Does not affect utility.

Otherwise, the tandem is in excellent, very-lightly-used condition.

The photos do not show her quite as impressive as she is in person, but give a reasonable impression.

We've ridden this bike probably 500 miles. It's very sporty, quick and fast and refined. She gets a lot of attention wherever she flies.

A rare beast for a fair price: USD$3500 *shipped* in the lower 48. Other destinations pay actual shipping. I will ship worldwide, in a specially made box.
