I sold a green metallic Gitane over the winter in the same color. The dropouts from the Gitane are a little different, going form memory- the Heylett dropouts seem to be a little cheaper, or at least less finish work to make them look better under the chrome. or maybe the chrome really brings out the blemishes of a poor prep thaty would normally be covered up by paint. The Gitane had a much better braze at the dropout/ chainstay joint than this Heylett- that's fer sure.
Maybe the same paint was in vogue 10 years later........
at least that's my unsolicited opinion.
