Since many of you will now run down and buy the product being discussed I will point out an error in terminology. 'Plumbers Tape' to your local hardware guy is metal strapping sold by the roll to secure pipes and ducts in construction with nails or screws. What is being discussed is 'Teflon Tape' and is sold in various widths. It is a great product and one of the least expensive items you can buy. For those who said they used it in hydraulic applications I want to point out this is improper and potentially dangerous ( you want to use the liquid form which is also a sealant and will not stay floating around your system forever) I know of no manufacturer who recommends tape in a liquid system. Also for pedal threads and freewheels where seizing is a problem I recommend 'Anti-seize' which comes in stick or paste form
