Alex, and all, To answer the question, I would leave the Alcyon as is! The bike can be cleaned up, (and or horror fordid! restored any time),,, it can only be an original barn find once. I feel most bikes should be ridden, but why chance it on this one. She is gorgeous,,,, as is!

peter weigle Lyme, Ct. ps, I resisted cleaning up and polishing the ladies Rene Herse bicycle that was a "barn find" maybe "chateau find" in France a few years ago. It still had a dirty chain, a bit of grease here and there and some real honest patina,(dirt). Inside the Lafuma handlebar bag was a tin of tire patches, a ladies hair comb and some other personal effects. The bike was ridden and put away after its last ride. It was hard to leave it as is,,, but like the Alcyon, it could be cleaned up or polished any time.
