Last Saturday the BVVW club had a vintage bike ride to Piermont New York. Most of the riders rode up from Central Park but Jamie Swan and myself decided to pull a "classic rendezvous" with the bunch at the west side of the George Washington bridge. Norman Hellman had the same idea, although he was successful. We hit bad traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway (and were 40 min late) so we had to chase the group down by making a B line up 9W. As it turns out, their scenic route took much longer than our direct shot, even though we overshot Piermont and had to pull a U-turn at the Tappan Zee bridge in Nyack. We did eventually meet up for a leisurely lunch in the gazebo and I got an obligatory group photo plus bike photos. We had a nice ride back at a proper casual conversational pace. It was great to get out and ride the old bikes with friends. The bikes were certainly not wall hangers and my Lejeune sure has its share of "patina" (heavily rusted chrome in this case).

In attendance were: Matthew Bowne (Pinarello), Michael Allison (Colnago), Tom McMahon (Proteus), Michael Lebron (Holdsworth), Jamie Swan (Jamie Swan), Paul Lee (Lejeune), Norman Hellman (Wilier), Taliah Lempert (Pink bike) and Josh Berger (Hetchins, who returned to NYC before lunch so no photos).

Thanks go to Michael Allison for leading us on a great route (and Matthew for organizing it!). Hope to see the gang again next weekend at Taliah's studio.
