Subject: [CR]DC to Ed Granger's Lancaster ride 9 August?

It is about 125 miles from the DC area to Ed Granger's. Lancaster is famous for lovely bike riding, and Ed's a fine fellow. But, in the new era of sensitivity to climate change (and $4/gallon gasoline), I'm on the fence. But the van would carry 4 or 5 of us, with our bikes, and its A/C works, so if there's a critical mass of others, I could be tempted to drive. I'd want to leave the central collecting area before 0730 to be sure that get there w/o stress.

Like the subject line says - final reminder of our upcoming CR-type ride in one week. We will plan to leave by 10 a.m. to beat potential August heat and arrive back in time for lunch - 28 miles total, with a shorter option. Pace about 13-14 to allow for bucolia to elicit the appropriate "oohs" and "ahhs." If you have special requirements alimentarily speaking, feel free to let us know. I am perfectly willing to deal with last-minute RSVPs, but as always, the more time to plan for group size, the better. Feel free to contact me for more info/directions or with questions. I've done the ride 3 times and will do it once or twice more before the 9th - I think it really does feel like a trip to an earlier, more agricultural age.
