Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Taylor Brothers were one of the many persons in this hobby of ours th at I felt I knew, even though I had never met them.  Through their bikes, the stories about them, the chapter in Kolin and De La Rosa's book, the BB C special, the Blackbird web site, I felt a warm regard for the Taylors.

Now Norman is gone to the that long, winding, shaded country lane in the sk y, where cars hurry not. the hills last only as long as your legs, and th ere's always a pub just when you get thirsty.  I had always meant to take some pictures of my Taylor (a very late one, 1993 by the best guess), and write the brothers a story about the machine.  I never got around to it, and now it's 1/3 too late.

So tonight, I'll dig into the wool jersey drawer, and find the Taylor Broth ers jersey (one of those Bob Freeman had made, appropriately in black), o il the chain on my Nervex'ed Tour of Britain, and do what Norm would want :  go and Have a Nice Ride.  Then afterwards lets lift a pint to a good friend I never met, whose handiwork has enriched my life.  Fare thee w ell, Norm.  Oh, and Norm, I really like the bike.
