I must disagree that the Fuji is a badly designed bike just because it won't take more than a 25 mm tire. I have ridden many bikes with 23 and 25's and for almost all normal road conditions they are fine. By the way, I believe that it might very well just be able to take 28's which are big enough even for the roughest roads. There are plenty of classic bikes that we hunger for which have the exact same clearance issues. We ride them with 23's and 25's and love them and never feel that they are "bad designs". There still seems to be a lot of debate about the straight fork thing. Colnago swears by it, and puts these forks on their new steel bikes. The Fuji is drop dead gorgeous and needs to apologize for nothing especially at this price.
