I have the original 1986 Peugeot brochure that came with my 1986 PZ-10, or actually just PZ as it was designated in the catalog. The PX-10, which had also been shortened to just PX, was one model down from my PZ in 1986. My PZ is 531c, but the PX is shown as Columbus SLX, and was fitted with a full Mavic gruppo, while the PZ was full Campy NR/SR.

In my copy of Chuck Schmidt's collection of Peugeot catalogs, Columbus tubing does not appear until 1986, the year my PZ was made. 1986 is the next to last catalog in Chuck's volume. The last one, not dated but presumably 1987, has no Columbus models. And even in 1986 Columbus SLX is shown only on the PX. The top model was the CY10FC, with a Vitus Al/Carbon frame, the next best was the 531c PZ-10 like mine. Below the SLX PX, the lesser models used Super Vitus, Reynolds 501 or carbon steel.

So I don't know if Columbus SLX was a one-off on the 1986 PX-10 or if Peugeot used it on other models in the late 80's.

I am not sure of the date of manufacture. I have a Peugeot frame and original fork stamped with the Lion that has a Columbus steerer tube. I did not know that Peugeot ever used any Columbus tubing. Can one of my learned colleagues shed som light on this for me. Would the Columbus steerer be an indicator of tubing used in the frame construction? Unfortunately this frmeset came to me with all braz-ons removed and paint removed. I do not have any information on the decal set to aid me in identification. All help is appreciated.thank you,Happy Trailsjohnstrizeksacramentocaliforniausa
