Well, I can't say about the special-bulit team bikes mentioned, but when Columbus SLX appeared on the PX-10 in 1986, Peugeot had already gone to English thread, at least my 531c 1986 PZ-10 is all English, steerer included. So I doubt Columbus had to worry about supplying French steerers to Peugeot in 1986.

I bought a Columbus tube Motobecane Champion Team at Ben Olken, Inc. in Cambridge in 1981. It had a French thread Columbus steerer.

The Peugeot in question might very well have been 531 with a Columbus steerer. It would not have been the first I saw. Since I'm neither collector nor archivist, I cannot say for certain what other bikes I saw with full 531 tubesets and Columbus steerers, but they were around in that era.
