Only saw this post, not the original, which is not quoted, but...

My method for removing sticky Campagnolo pads, which I presume to be similar to Modolos, is to "stand up" the pad and pad holder with the closed end down and open end up, and brace only the exposed pad on the edge of a laminate counter or something similar that has a nice square corner, as opposed to rounded, shaped, or bull nosed. Then push down firmly on the holder, keeping your hands out of the way, so that the pad is free to rise up and out, as the holder moves toward the floor. It might help your grip to mount the holder to the outside of the brake caliper (or a worker caliper so that you don't damage the nice one). Be prepared to push hard, with several small movements until it finally pops free, if it's really a sticky one. Installation is done the same, by bracing the pad on the counter, and pushing the holder down onto it.

If my description is not clear, I can take a couple of pics in process, to illustrate.

Dan-

This can be a royal PITA. Most people try and take pliers to them and pull the shoes out, the problem with that method is that when you pull against the holder it can tend to expand the pad, thus making in much harder to get out. The method that I have found to work well is to put the brake pad in a vice and squeeze it down tightly, this will keep it from "expanding", then remove the holder from the pad rather than the pad from the holder.
