Do you mean the black adapter ring or the silver dropout adapter? If you're using the former (a much more elegant looking solution) but need a bigger sprocket you might consider using the silver dropout adapter. It drops the derailleur down about a centimeter or two, which should let you use a bigger sprocket.

I think you're talking about fore-aft cage adjustment. In my case, (and this is why the new subject line) after setting up the derailleur I can see that the cage needs some adjustment side-to-side. The top pulley looks okay, but the chain and the tight spacing with the freewheel could simply be holding it in place. The bottom pulley is out of plane, too far to the right and angled out a bit. Since the derailleur bolts directly to the Huret dropout I can't make adapter adjustments.

Is there a way to adjust the side-to-side angle within the derailleur itself? Ed Litton checked the frame and dropout for alignment so I'd think it's correct (and that the problem therefore lies within the derailleur itself) but maybe Huret dropoout / derailleur combinations are different? Any other options besides tweaking the dropout?

Thanks very much,
