Subject: [CR]Cresent before pepita special

Hi, I was out today riding on my Crescent from around 1950, so I took some pictures of it. It is not a fancy bike. It is built in lug less chrome molybdenum steel and has simplex gears, but all the bearings are excellent, so it still offers a nice ride after almost 60 years.

The bike is essential of the same type which The Swedish rider Harry Snell used when he won the World championship in Holland 1948, direct after that Crescent labelled their bikes with the word " Världsmästarcykeln" = The world champion bike. I don't know why Crescent waited up to that time to label their bike in that way. They have had success before, the Danish rider Henry Hansen took gold in the Olympics in Amsterdam 1928 and won the World championship in Copenhagen 1931 on a Crescent bike.

You can find pictures on this site: http://goto.glocalnet.net/blackdot/

I also put up a picture of a Monark I have from around 1955 on the site. Crescent, located in the east of Sweden, and Monark, located in the west of Sweden, was the biggest brands and fierce competitors up to 1961 when the two brands become one company- MCB.

Today are the brands only small parts in the Swedish bicycle king Salvatori Grimaldi´s bike empire Cycleurope, He also owns the following bicycle brands: Bianchi, Gitane, Micmo, Puch, Legnano, Peugeot, DBS, Kildemoes, Everton, Chiorda, Renault and Spectra.....
