Champions are champions, because they are good. That doesn't mean they have to know or care about bikes, it just isn't important for many of them. I've known amateurs later turned pro riding bikes so skewed you could look between the wheels from behind. Or grabbing a team mates bike and not feeling it was different. Or checking his brand new bike out by riding down the field because his cows needed looking at.
