One of the things I MOST look forward to is the latest issue of the VCC (Brit) News and Views mag. The last one I got #326 Aug/Sept 2008 features a close up view of a 1955 GILLOTT Fleur de lys bike. belonging to a member Mark Stevens. This frame is Green with a red panel head tube, Outstanding lugs work. LOTS of Patina. But TWO I think interesting items, ONE the Huret double lever one sided shifter, With HURET in RED yet! but also Tyre sweeps. NOW What is the correct way to mount the front sweep? I have always mounted mine the way the one is on the Gillott. My Hetchins had mine the same way, with the sweep facing back away from the fork crown. A fellow vintage collector on a ride. INFORMED me that my FRONT sweep way the WRONG way? that it should be mounted with the sweep facing forwards UNDER the fork crown.I know who cares, (a small thing but at my age when all things are small.) any comments? by the way anyone who is Brit bike interested _normank@tiscali.uk_ (mailto:normank@tiscali.uk) can sign you up for a membership even takes PAYPAL! the New and Views and BONSHAKER that Hilary flogs on Ebay are WELL worth the cost.
