Subject: [CR]More on wheels, a plea

Dale forgive me, but I'm gonna repeat a plea I've put up a couple of times.

Just after Cirque '08, I offered the spokes and labor to build a set of wheels to donate to the charity auction for Cirque '09.

I got two very generous responses, but they proved to be incompatible. Gabriel Romeu donated the NOS Mavic GP4 rims he bought at Cirque '08, which already included wheel-building labor. And Jan Hein donated a pair of Grand Bois tires, which are clinchers and don't go with the GP4s.

So I added another set of spokes and another build to my offer. If somebody donates some appropriate 36-hole hubs for Gabriel's GP4s, it will complete the set of tubular wheels, although I'd be open to a donation of tubulars, which could also be used for a demonstration of tubular mounting at Cirque '09.

We also need a set of hubs and rims for Jan's wonderful clincher tires.

One aspect of this is that I will save building one of the wheels for Friday afternoon at Cirque '09, where I will demonstrate the technique I outlined in an earlier post.

So, c'mon people, it's time to pony up! Your donation gets HUGE value added to it by my labor, to say nothing of spokes worth over $100. Who's holding a pair of curved-skewer Record hubs waiting for the price to climb? What about a pair of NOS MA-40s to match the GP4s?
