Ha ha! I was going to say "Ah it's all BS!" before I even read it, just to give Mik e a hard time. But all joking aside, thanks to Mike for being brave enough a nd fool hardy enough to attempt this.

Of course this can only serve as a guide of the broadest type. It could be e xtremely helpful to the novice, but I warn those persons now, do not take it as gospel. Examples of possible misses abound: first one to catch my eye wa s in the Bianchi section:

"The top 1960\u2019s examples will typically have full Campagnolo p arts kits with Universal 61 brakes.  For these bikes in guideline condi tion, a value around $950 is likely.  Note that many of these early Bia nchi bikes used a proprietary integral headset which means replacement may b e difficult."

I can assure you that a Bianchi if that era bicycles "in very clean original condition. Figure perhaps a bicycle with about 4,000 miles in well cared fo r condition" will very likely fetch probably double that amount!

On the other hand, I don't think you could get 1/2 the amount mentioned for a Cannondale of any sort...

But that's what makes this all fun, different opinions, different experience s... Keep up the good work Mike and we will (politely) argue about it over a nd over again!

Hi CR folks, Let the controversy and heated debate begin!!! After many years, I've finally started updating my vintage bicycle price gui de! I'm taking the pre-Sheldon Brown modified version and adding info and new prices. The initial phase of this work is now available for viewing. It will be a work in progress for awhile, but right now I've started and hav e done most of the first few letters of the alphabet. It is updated now throu gh Cinelli. If folks want to send comments, compliments, hate mail, or whateve r regarding the guide (or anything else for that matter) please feel free. Eventually the whole deal will be flushed out, and if folks want to make comments that is great! If you provide instructive info, I'll incorporate t he info into the guide as appropriate and cite you as a source. As more updates are made, I'll email this group. I'm hoping to add a bit ev ery week or so. The guide can be accessed by going to http://www.ReneHerseBicycles.com At this point, my intent is for the guide to remain a free resources on the web. If you like the guide and the info, you can say "thanks" by patronizing Rene

Herse Bicycles/Boulder Bicycles and our on-line store (which has b een updated with some more vintage and randonneur stuff over the past few days). Thanks so much! Mike Kone in Boulder CO USA in Boulder CO
