I've followed the discussion, and as a collector of vintage cars, vintage advertising, vintage bikes and all sorts of other old junk, i have seen this same discussion in all fields of collecting. It is unrealistic to think there will not be an emerging market as collecting interest in a field grows. In most mature collecting fields, like cars, the rare and desirable items are generally all in the hands of knowledgeable collectors who after years of foraging, have decided to sell surplus to fund their addictions. The next step is the few fanatical hoarders, see a viable market in a field they love. I myself purchased campagnolos warehouse inventory in the early 80's, Sure i hoped it would appreciate, but after 25 years, and selling a lot of items, i will probably break even on my investment, but i really enjoyed looking at and holding these beautiful items for years. I don't speak for you, but if i could have my dream job, it would be traveling through the worlds old bike shops looking for the rare elusive parts, with even a chance of selling some to fund my collecting addiction.I think anyone who collects, hunts, hoards, trades or sells the items we covet should be applauded.
