I think you should think twice about refinishing that bike. I think others on the list will agree, it is really in pretty nice shape for what it is. And even if you do not like it, the iconic Eddy orange would be very attractive to most collectors.

Just my two cents, but from a financial and preservation point of view it would be better to sell that bike as is to a collector, which would easily finance a mid 70's Super that could be painted as you wish.

Again, just my two-cents. I firmly believe in, "it's your bike and you should do what you want". But you should understand the rareity and desirability of what you have there. Which is a very cool Colnago!

Best, Jon Williams (who is having Brian re-paint a mid 70's Super in Eddy orange as we speak) Grants Pass OR USA

I recently acquired a Colnago Super that needs to be refinished, assuming the tubes look OK after paint and rust removal. I've posted some pics at http://www.flickr.com/photos/23112090@N00/sets/72157606529100161/. According to the seller, it's a '73, and in reading through the archives, I haven't found anything to contradict that date.

The only chrome is on the fork crown. I'd prefer not to re-chrome, but I also want to remain true to the original. Was the chromed fork crown part of the standard finish for this bike? Were there variations in terms of chroming?

Despite my preference to stay true to the original, I'm not particularly fond of the orange. What other colors were offered on the Super at that time?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!
