Currently, the Japanese 'Toshi' tape is very nice.Slightly textured and supple and grippy. The old steering wheel patterned bar tape was made by Cannondale. It had a padded strip and rather thick leather which also provided a good grip. I got a set on E-Bay a couple years ago at $75.00.
