Mark,

The difference would be single versus double eyelets....

The MA has a simple single eyelet at each spoke hole whereas the MA2 has double eyelets (...i.e. a tubular ferruled eyelet) at each corresponding position. Once built, there is no aesthetic difference to be seen between the two models (...other than their respective labels) unless you were to remove the tire and rim tape to have a look at their backside.

This same model nomenclature would apply to the Module E versus Module E2 rim ... and to that end, I suggest you take a gander at the following page from the 1979 MAVIC catalog for a pictorial representation of the cross-sectional difference:

Picked up a pair of nice wheels today - high flange campy hubs on Mavic MA rims - everything is very clean, nice and shiny.

Does anyone know the difference between the MA and MA2 models? I now have a pair of each and they appear identical.
