As John points out proper tool use goes along way to preserving those slots on the Regina FW. I also prefer to use the Bicycle Research tool with the outer ring, a variation of the Campagnolo tool, which fits neatly in a vice and never fails to remove the freewheel. There is also a Dura ace tool which has the same outer ring and seems to work equally as well. Another tip is if your freewheel already has damage from previous attempts (certainly not by YOU) grind the slot back to square before attempting above removal. Toms pictured removing tool looks to be an excellent fishing weight and should be used accordingly

PS those not wishing to attempt the above ,send the offending freewheel with wheel attached and include matching front wheel to me , I am not afraid of using them
