Subject: [CR]loose bits hunt

Good morning -- I'm looking for a few bits to complete a project. A friend &local shop o wner had an 'abandoned' bike he needed to clear out, and heknows of my af fliction - addiction? - regarding old, er, vintage, bikes. It's a Peugeot, early to mid 70s is my guess, with cottered cranks,Lyotar d pedals, 1 (broken) Mafac brake lever, no derailleurs, single (52t) chain ring, no skewers, etc. Frame, a wheel set that looked like it may have been stored in a"working" barn (if you've got to ask, you're from the city ...), and apaper shoppi ng bag with some parts. Between that bag and my own shelfspares, I'm most of the way there. Of course, what's missing are thelittle pieces that wo uldn't normally be separated from theirassemblies, like:

1 washers, adapter, & nut set for the rear brake - it has the bolt, but n ot the rest of the mounting hardware. 1 center wire pull fitting - the triangular shaped piece to which thebrak e cable attaches and across which the center pull wire rests, andthe bolt & nut that secures the brake cable. 1 seat post binder bolt ~~ 3 cm long ...

Just can't seem to find these few last loose bits locally or on ebay.

I've pretty much rebuilt wheels, bearings, & such - actuallylooking prett y good. I'm skipping full drive package and going with aMaillard Atom 18t single-speed freewheel and that 52t chainring. It'san interesting bright orange, 54cm ctt (~53ctc) seat tube and a 56cmctc top tube, 1/2 chromed fork, front drops w/ double eyelets (like forfenders). Rear drops are pla te steel with an indented eyelet, alsosuggestive of original fenders. Sea t tube had the insert that wascommon on the UO-8s, which had a 22 seat po st in the nominally 25.4seat tube -- but it's not a straight UO-8, at lea st not like the 1974model I have ... This has a single brazed on gear lev er, right side ofthe down tube, but the down tube, near the bottom bracke t, has brazedeyelets for both front and rear derailleurs ... I can unders tand ithaving the one lever boss and using the then common adapter collar thatallowed two derailleur levers ... but that, as I recall, would havea lso had a collar-attached wire guide ... this has a brazed fitting(looks original, too) and no corresponding boss.

Anyway, it's soon to be a nice single speed conversion if I can get the l ast few parts.

If anyone has some bits on their bench they'd be willing to part with(sor ry ... no pun intended), I'd be happy to pay something reasonable& postag e - paypal or check - your call. Please contact me off list.

As always, thanks ...
