I use FedEx when shipping frames, wheels and complete bicycles. For small stuff USPS is more convenient for me.

One FedEx option I like to use is to have FedEx bill the recipient. When you print a FedEx shipping label online you have the option of charging the shipping to your own account or to have FedEx bill the recipient. Of course, this requires that you establish an account with FedEx.

Printing the FedEx label yourself saves time at the dropoff point, since all they need to do is weigh the package, attach the label and scan it into their computer system. Here's a tip as told to me by one of the FedEx counter people; always estimate the shipping weight on the low side. FedEx will charge you the correct shipping weight if you underestimate, but they don't drop the weight on your printed label if you estimate too high.
