A lamp bracket on the headset was standard for roadsters. Lightweights usually had a boss on the fork blade for the bracket. I thought Bruce Thompson was looking for a bracket that attaches to the fork blade that didn't look like a cheap muffler clamp with serrated jaws. I do remember brackets that used a stainless steel band clamp tightened with the mounting bolt, but so far I haven't found anything like that on the web.
