I believe the Campagnolo grease is Lithium(soap or wax?) based. This was one of the first greases created (following animal fats) and is why most bikes,Hubs etc had provisions for adding oil to restore the greases lubricating value. In the overall scheme of things we have moved way past this technology. I use almost exclusively Silicone or other synthetic greases as some of my bikes will sit for quite a while between rides. Synthetics will not absorb moisture and do not separate over time. Any Lubrication Engineers out there? My own feeling is to display those cute containers on the work bench but never use them.
