Could someone out there comment on this Cinelli track bike which the seller dates to 1956. The bike is attributed to Gus Gatto. I seem to have seen many bikes so attributed (one a Paramount that I used to own). This bike has the expected fastback seat stay cluster. Recently, Steve Massland sold a 50's Cinelli with a completely different seat stay arrangement. Also, in a conversation with Mike Barry he confirmed that his 50's Cinelli (s) have a seat stay arrangement much like Stevens. To me this one looks much later than 50's....early 60's at best but I am in no way a Cinelli expert. Comments? The ebay number is 190270638202 Edward Albert Chappaqua, New York, USA --------------------------------------------------

My understanding is that 1955 is the date when Cinelli's fastbask seatstay came into use. Prior to that, this was the style of seatstay on Cinellis ---> http://www.velostuf.com/CINELLIoldseatstay.jpg

On a different topic, the Madison WI swap meet is coming up. This is a BIG event... http://www.brazendropouts.org/swap09.shtml

See you there?
