It occurred to me that perhaps there was an incident (or at least an attorney's thought) which had inspired Stronglight to modify the stampings on their crank arms during the 1950s. Earlier models were forged with the logo, name and in small lettering the word "DEPOSEE" ... this was modified to state "MARQUE DEPOSEE". Perhaps there was concern that it was actually the name or the logo design which should be considered protected, rather than simply the crank arm design.

Any thoughts about this?
