Subject: [CR]Packing Handlebars

I've made use of foam pipe insulation from the local hardware store. Slit open the pre-cut seam, fit it on with a twist to help the seam close back up and apply tape here and there. It's a little troublesome but not too expensive, and it makes obsessive types like me feel good about the packing. I use a box as well, but I'll bet you could do without, a la Hilary. Warning, though: I've only done time trial bars, so I don't know how well the pipe insulation can be fitted onto the full drop bars.

I just sold a few on-topic handlebars and was wanting to know how folks go about shipping them! I have seen special handlebar boxes which I can try to scrounge around the dumpster at my LBS, but do any of you have a better way? These seem as ungainly to ship as wheels.
