Jerry,

Congratulations on finding the successful re-engineering (de- engineering?) solution to your troublesome light problem. Apparently, older is not always better.

It was heartening to read how you correctly diagnosed and solved your electrical problem--it is a gift to the rest of us who face similar (usually mechanical) challenges all the time with our "classic" rides. It is especially fitting in this holiday season that there is now light where once there was darkness.

Thanks to all of you who have been sending me the "Christmas presents" for my Allegro build, and for all the assistance with information, dealing with ebay, and much more--like JP Weigle sharing Miss Hendey's 60th birthday and fresh-cut holly with lugs. Perhaps there is, indeed, a place for hope in this "dark mid-winter's night."

May you all have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hannukah, a Blessed Kwanzaa, and joyful cycling in 2009,
