The machine Fred remembers was the Raleigh no. 74 Gran Sport with, of course, Campag Gran Sport derailleurs, GB Courer brakes, Dunlop 27" HPs, a very distinctive (and heavy) steel chainset and available in Venetian Blue, Firecracker Red or Sunset Yellow. Like all Raleigh "lightweights" of the era (this c. 1962-66) this was made of 2030 steel not Reynolds. And built in the Lenton Nottingham works.

The Gran Sport which began this discussion was model DL160 and quite different of course. These were all built at the Carlton Worksop establishment.
